The Stargate
This article is for Chevron Ten
You build a working Stargate from raw ore. There's a catch: Naquadah, the key material, only generates on Abydos. So your first trip goes through a gate someone else built. This page walks you through both parts.
Where everything comes from
| Material | Where to find it |
|---|---|
| Naquadah Ore | Abydos only |
| Titanium Ore | The Overworld, deep underground |
| Trinium Ore | The End only |
| Red Crystals | Geodes in the Nether |
| Blue Crystals | Geodes in snowy biomes |
| Yellow Crystals | Geodes in deserts and badlands |
| White Crystals | Geodes in savannas |
| Ender Crystals | Geodes in forests and jungles |
| Pegasus Crystals | Geodes in oceans and beaches |
Tip: Crystal geodes work like amethyst geodes. Bring a budding crystal home and you can grow your own instead of hunting for more.
Part 1: Your first trip
Step 1: Find a Stargate outpost
Quest: The Lost Gate
Stargate outposts generate across the Overworld in plains, deserts, mossy areas, snowy biomes, badlands and mangroves. Some villages have one too. Each comes with a Milky Way gate and a DHD that are ready to use.
- Explore and look for ancient stonework with a ring standing in it.
- When you find one, mark it on your map. Press J, right-click and add a waypoint.
- The quest gives you 4 Notebook Pages for writing down addresses.
Step 2: Dial Abydos
Quest: Destination: Abydos
Walk up to the DHD, open it and press the symbols in this order:
| Destination | Address |
|---|---|
| Abydos | Taurus · Serpens Caput · Capricornus · Monoceros · Sagittarius · Orion · Point of Origin |
| Earth (home) | Auriga · Cetus · Centaurus · Cancer · Scutum · Eridanus · Point of Origin |
These two addresses are the same in every world. Every other address is random, so write down any new ones you find.
Before you step through: Bring food, torches, a pickaxe and building blocks. Abydos is a desert, and you'll want to mine for a while.
Step 3: Arrive on Abydos and mine Naquadah
Quests: Welcome to Ra's Realm → Naquadah
- Step through the gate. The Welcome to Ra's Realm quest completes as soon as you arrive.
- Explore. Abydos has a city, a pyramid and dungeons with loot, plus cartouches carved with more gate addresses.
- Mine Naquadah Ore. You need at least 16 Raw Naquadah for the quest, and a lot more for a full gate. A whole gate takes dozens of plates, so bring back as much as you can carry.
- Dial Earth from the Abydos gate to get home.
Part 2: Build your own gate
Step 4: Gather the other materials
Quests: Titanium · Crystal Hunting · Trinium
| Quest | What you need | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Titanium | 16 Titanium Ingots | Smelt Raw Titanium from the Overworld |
| Crystal Hunting | 8 Red, 2 Ender, 1 Yellow, 1 Blue, 1 Small White Crystal | Crystal geodes (see the table above) |
| Trinium | 8 Trinium Ingots | Smelt Raw Trinium from the End |
Plan ahead: The Capacitor Bank needs a netherite ingot, and the Crystal Control Circuit needs Trinium from the End. Both come from late-game dimensions, so start collecting early.
Step 5: Make Naquadah Alloy
Quests: Naquadah Alloy → Plating
Gates are built from Naquadah Alloy, not raw Naquadah.
- Smelt Raw Naquadah in a furnace to get Raw Naquadah Alloy Ingots.
- Alloy it with iron. Pick one:
- Create: Put Raw Naquadah Alloy Ingots and Iron Ingots in a Mixer over a Basin to get Naquadah Dust, then smelt the dust.
- Immersive Engineering: An Arc Furnace alloys them directly.
- Make plates. Press Naquadah Alloy Ingots with a Create Mechanical Press. An IE Metal Press works too.
- Make gears. Craft 4 Naquadah Alloy Ingots in a plus shape to get a Naquadah Gear.
Step 6: Build the circuits
Quests: Control Circuit → Smart Circuits → Capacitor Bank
| Part | Recipe |
|---|---|
| Control Circuit Base | 4 Titanium Plates, 1 each of Yellow, Blue, Ender and Red Crystal, 1 Small White Crystal |
| Naquadah Control Circuit | A Control Circuit Base filled with molten Naquadah Alloy |
| Crystal Control Circuit | A Control Circuit Base filled with molten Trinium |
| Capacitor Bank | 5 Titanium Ingots, 1 Netherite Ingot, 1 Glass Pane, 1 Block of Redstone, 1 Naquadah Control Circuit |
How to fill circuits with Create:
- Melt Naquadah Alloy (or Trinium) ingots in a Mixer over a superheated Basin. Feed the Blaze Burner Blaze Cake to superheat it.
- Pipe the molten metal into a Spout.
- Put a Control Circuit Base on a Depot under the Spout. Each circuit takes 40 mB.
An IE Bottling Machine also fills circuits.
Step 7: Build the gate
Quests: Ring Fragments → Ring Segments + Chevrons → Stargate Base → Ring Assembly
| Part | Recipe |
|---|---|
| Milky Way Ring Fragment | 6 Naquadah Plates, 3 Naquadah Alloy Ingots |
| Milky Way Stargate Ring | 6 Ring Fragments, 3 Naquadah Plates |
| Milky Way Stargate Chevron | 5 Red Crystals, 1 Red Stained Glass, 3 Naquadah Plates |
| Milky Way Stargate Base | 2 Ring Fragments, 2 Naquadah Gears, Red Crystal, Ender Crystal, Naquadah Control Circuit, Crystal Control Circuit, Capacitor Bank |
- Craft the ring blocks, chevrons and base.
- Place the base where the bottom of your gate will be.
- Build the ring of ring blocks and chevrons around it. Check the JSG wiki for the exact layout.
- When every block is in the right place, the gate merges into one working Stargate. Tick Ring Assembly.
Step 8: Build the DHD
Quests: Big Red Button + Crystal Holder → Dial Home Device → DHD Control Crystal
| Part | Recipe |
|---|---|
| Bright Red Button (BRB) | 4 Titanium Nuggets, 4 Titanium Plates, 1 Red Stained Glass Pane |
| Milky Way Crystal Holder | 2 Titanium Nuggets, 1 Red Crystal, 3 Titanium Plates, 1 Naquadah Alloy Ingot |
| Milky Way DHD | 2 Naquadah Plates, BRB, Crystal Control Circuit, Crystal Holder, Naquadah Control Circuit, 3 Naquadah Alloy Ingots |
| DHD Control Crystal | 4 Red Crystals, 2 Small Red Crystals, 1 Control Circuit Base |
- Place the DHD a few blocks in front of your gate.
- Put the DHD Control Crystal in the DHD.
- You get 4 more Notebook Pages from the quest.
Step 9: Dial out from your own gate
Quest: Chevron Seven, Locked
Dial Abydos (or Earth, if you built your gate somewhere else) on your own DHD and step through. You run your own Stargate program now.
After your own gate
Lock it down with an iris
Quests: Iris Blades → Close the Iris → Send Your Code
| Part | Recipe |
|---|---|
| Titanium Iris Blade | 3 Titanium Plates, 1 Titanium Nugget |
| Titanium Quad Iris Blade | 4 Iris Blades, 1 Titanium Gear |
| Titanium Iris | 4 Quad Iris Blades, 4 Titanium Gears |
| Garage Door Opener (GDO) | Iron Ingots, Black Dye, Lightning Rod, Stone Button, Gray Glass Pane, Repeater |
Install the iris on your gate, then give your team GDOs so they can open it from the other side.
Ring transporters
Quests: Ring Fragments: Goa'uld → Ring Transporters
- Craft Goa'uld Transport Ring Fragments from 6 Naquadah Plates and 3 Titanium Ingots.
- Craft the Goa'uld Transport Rings and a Rings Control Panel. Press R in JEI for the full recipes.
- Place two sets of rings and use them to move between the two spots.
Build your gate room
- Stargate Command: Use SGC Control to set up a control room.
- Decoration: Use JSG: Decoration blocks to make it look the part.
- Universe Dialer (optional): A handheld dialer for when you're away from a DHD. It's made from exposed, weathered and oxidized copper ingots, stone buttons, a black glass pane and a Naquadah Control Circuit.
The ninth chevron
Quests: The Universe Gate → The Ninth Chevron (finale)
The Universe gate is the one found on Destiny. Craft Universe Ring Fragments and a Universe Stargate Base, then explore the Destiny addon. The finale gives 1,500 XP and 4 Diamonds.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Fix |
|---|---|
| The gate won't merge | A block is missing or in the wrong spot. Check the layout on the JSG wiki. |
| The DHD won't dial | Make sure the DHD Control Crystal is installed and the gate has power from the Capacitor Bank. |
| Can't find Naquadah | It only generates on Abydos. Dial there from an outpost gate. |
| Can't make Crystal Control Circuits | They need molten Trinium, which only comes from the End. |
| Lost an address | Abydos and Earth are always the same (see above). Write every other address on a Notebook Page. |
